Flaxlanden ( fr. Flaxlanden ) is a commune in the northeast of France in the Grand Est region ^[1] (former Alsace - Champagne - Ardennes - Lorraine ), department of the Upper Rhine , Mulhouse district , canton of Brenstat ^[2] . Until March 2015, the commune was administratively part of the abolished canton of Mulhouse-Sud (Mulhouse district).

The area of the commune is 4.33 km², the population is 1448 people ^[3] ^[4] (2006) with an upward trend: 1460 people ^[5] (2012), the population density is 337.2 people / km².

Economics

In 2010, out of 925 people of working age (from 15 to 64 years), 664 were economically active , 261 inactive (activity indicator 71.8%, in 1999 - 67.9%). Of the 664 active able-bodied residents, 622 people worked (334 men and 288 women), 42 were unemployed (14 men and 28 women). Among 261 able-bodied inactive citizens, 99 were pupils or students , 100 - pensioners , and another 62 - were inactive due to other reasons ^[8] ^[9] .

Throughout 2011, there were 575 taxable households in the commune , in which 1,408.5 people lived. In this case, the median income was 25,692 euros per taxpayer ^[10] .
