Biography
He studied under Jasha Fisherman and Cesar Perez Centenat (piano), as well as under Jose Ardevol (composition). The representative of the national direction in Cuban music. Since 1945, professor at the Havana Conservatory ( Spanish: Conservatorio Municipal de La Habana ; history of music and aesthetics). Since 1960, he collaborated with the Boletín interamericano de música . In 1969-1973 he taught at the National School of Arts ( Spanish: Escuela Superior de Arte de Cubanacán ) in Havana. Since 1977, he was a member of the National Commission of Music ( Spanish: Comisión Nacional de Música ) under the Ministry of Culture of Cuba.
In 1971 he wrote the book Panorama Histórico de la Música en Cuba .
