Mutual Defense Agreement between the United States of America and Great Britain ( UK – US Mutual Defense Agreement ) is an agreement signed by the United States and Great Britain in 1958 with the aim of expanding and deepening US-British military cooperation in the nuclear field. The agreement provides for joint work on the creation and modernization of nuclear munitions, their delivery vehicles, military nuclear reactors, and the mutual provision and transfer of missile technologies. The contract involves the training of intelligence officers and scientific specialists.
In 1959, an amendment to the agreement was written in which the United Kingdom should transfer components for the nuclear weapon to the United States.
The agreement has been repeatedly extended for a period of 5 and 10 years. [1] In 2014, the contract was extended to 2024 . [2]
