Luxembourg Conservatory - Conservatory in Luxembourg , the capital of Luxembourg . The Conservatory was founded in 1906 , its establishment became possible after a private donation, which was prescribed by decree of the Grand Duke , published in 1904 [1] . Currently, more than 2,600 students from 60 countries study at the conservatory, studying a total of more than 5,000 courses [1] .
The Conservatory is located on the campus of Geesseknäppchen , along with several other educational institutions; most of the campus is located in Hollerich but its western part, in which the conservatory is located, is located in a quarter Merle [2] .
The need for a new building appeared in the 1970s as a result of the growing demands of the institution. The foundation stone of the building on Karl Martel Street was laid on June 19, 1981 , which led to the grand opening of the building in 1984 [3] . In the great hall of the conservatory is the organ of Westenfelder, the first organ for the concert hall in Luxembourg [4] [5] . The excellent acoustics of the auditorium attracted a wide range of performers, including Bernard Haitink , Mstislav Rostropovich , Martha Argerich , Felicity Lott and Lazar Berman [6] .
The conservatory also houses a museum of ancient instruments, a specialized library, a music library, and a large archive of musical works [6] .
