Biography
Kuznetsov’s father practiced judo. When his son was 6 years old, he gave him to the gymnastics section. Maxim began judo at the age of 10 at the children's and youth sports school in Bryansk under the leadership of Igor Vasilievich Mikhailin. In 2002 he became the bronze medalist of the European Championship among juniors. There he was noticed by the coach Stanislav Zhukov. At his suggestion he moved to Ryazan . In 2003 he became the champion of Russia among youth, and in 2004 and 2006 - the champion of adults. This was followed by a series of injuries that did not allow Kuznetsov to perform at a decent level. In 2009, he began working with the new coach Andrei Brainin.
