Player Career

Sergei Khoroshev started volleyball in 1993 in Moscow Sports School No. 21 with coach Alexei Viktorovich Tvorogov. In 1997 he was invited to the Yaroslavl "Oilman" , where a basic center for the training of national teams was created.

In 1998, he played at the World Youth Games in Moscow (4th place), and in 1999 he won gold medals at the European and World Youth Championships. As part of the youth team, he became the European champion and silver medalist of the world championship. He was repeatedly on the lists of candidates for the main national team of the country and was called up for training. In June 2005, Sergey Khoroshev played for the national team in two matches of the Euroleague group stage against the Estonian team [1] .

Since 1999 (at the age of 17) Sergey began to be attracted to the team of the Super League of the Yaroslavl “Oilman” , in which by 2000 he had already begun to take a place in the first team and in the place with the team he fought for bronze medals of the 2000/01 season championship.

Since 2002, for six years, he played for Odintsovo's Iskra , with whom he won the Russian Cup, the silver medal of the Champions League 2003/04 and repeatedly won medals in Russian championships and European cups. In the season 2008/09 he defended the colors of Lokomotiv-Belogorye , with whom he won the European Volleyball Confederation Cup and was recognized as the best serveer of the Final Four in Athens [2] .

Subsequently, he played for the Kaliningrad Dynamo Yantar , the Krasnodar Dynamo and Tyumen . In the spring of 2014, Sergei Khoroshev intended to end his career, but in December of that year he returned to Iskra and played part of the season in the Premier League A for the Moscow region team [3] .

Coach Career

In September 2015, Sergey Khoroshev began his career as a coach. As a second coach, he was part of the coaching staff of the Russian women's national volleyball team [4] , which won the European Olympic qualification tournament [5] [6] , and also took 4th place at the Grand Prix 2016 . At the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, he was the head coach of the women's team. Following the results of the Olympic tournament, the team took 5th place.

  • Champions League silver medalist (2003/04).
  • Winner of the European Volleyball Confederation Cup (2008/09), silver (2005/06) and bronze (2002/03) CEV Cup medalist.
  • Bronze medalist of the Top Teams Cup (2006/07).
