Story
Having learned that a sketch of a painting by Vrubel stolen from the Rivne Museum will be sold at the Sotheby’s international London auction, the Swiss architect Rastopchin informs the writer Stepanov, whom he once met in Zurich .
This circumstance alarmed insurance companies: the return of the sketch to the USSR would threaten them with a reimbursement of colossal insurance amounts.
Threats, blackmail, and falsification of documents were launched. At the cost of enormous efforts, Stepanov manages to take the painting to Moscow .
