Captain Horatio McCallister is a character in the animated series The Simpsons . Voiced by Hank Azaria . He is usually called the Sea Captain , although he admitted that he is not a real captain and hates the sea .

Start
The character was created by Conan O'Brien at a time when he was still a screenwriter for The Simpsons [1] . The character first appeared in the episode " New Kid on the Block ", where he played the role of the owner of a smoked Dutchman fish restaurant buffet (pun: The Frying Dutchman and The Flying Dutchman ). In this episode, Homer Simpson sued McCallister for not letting him eat as much as Homer could. The character with his wooden leg, two glass eyes [2] and the constant exclamation of “Arrrr” is based on the stereotypical representation of people about pirates.
Character
McCallister is often shown as a person completely incompetent in shipping matters. Once he deliberately drowns a ship, ignoring the lack of a lighthouse signal and muttering, "I hate the sea and everything connected with it." In another episode, while driving a drunk oil tanker, he puts it aground, which leads to pollution of the sea. In the episode " Boy-Scoutz N the Hood, " he recommends an inflatable raft to Bart and Homer who is drowning instantly. In some cases, he acknowledges his incompetence: "Yaaaar, I do not know what I'm doing." The captain is a member of the Springfield Society of Alcoholics Anonymous .
In the episode Lisa's First Word , he tried to sell the houseboat to Marge and Homer Simpsons, (a reference to the movie Jaws ), but the shark that grabbed him prevented him from doing so.
As an entrepreneur, McCallister is also incompetent. His restaurant "Smoked Dutchman" brings only losses and can not support the owner. In the episode " Lisa Gets an" A " , the captain appears as a descending tramp. Seeing Marge and Homer walking his lobster , he offered to send him to his "little lobster academy." After Marge refused to do this, he asked her for an extra trifle. In the episode " Homer's Barbershop Quartet, " he attacked a giant squid because he believed that squid could have gold in his stomach.
Despite his age, poor physical condition, wooden leg and poor eyesight, he plays basketball well [3] .
In the series, Captain McCallister never appeared with a girl. He is sure that he is not gay , although he once hinted that he had homosexual sex with his sailors in swimming [4] .
In the episode " The Way We Weren't " it turned out that Homer considers McCallister to be his good friend. In one of the episodes, he can be seen in a maternity hospital, where he holds a newborn baby.
