Crater Description

The surroundings of the Ricco Crater. A fragment of a map of the region of the north pole of the moon [2] .

Ricco Crater covers the southwestern part of the bowl of Milanković Crater. The other immediate neighbors of the crater are the Thyssen Crater in the east; Roberts Crater in the south-southeast and Karpinsky Crater in the south-west [3] . Selenographic coordinates of the center of the crater , diameter 65.8 km [4] , depth 2.7 km [1] .

The crater has a polygonal shape and is practically not destroyed. A shaft with a sharply defined sharp edge, except for the southwestern part of the shaft covered by rocks ejected during the formation of the Karpinsky crater. In turn, the rocks ejected during the formation of the Ricco crater overlap the southwestern part of the bowl of the Milankovitch crater. The inner slope of the shaft with a pronounced terrace-like structure, with scree of rocks at the foot. The shaft height above the surrounding area reaches 1250 m [1] , the volume of the crater is approximately 3700 km³ [1] . The bottom of the bowl has even areas surrounding the cluster of ridges in the center of the bowl. Several ranges are located in the northern and southern parts of the bowl, in the north-western part there is a cluster of freestanding hills.
