Biography

In 1791, he volunteered for the Moselle Volunteer Regiment. As an officer of the 3rd battalion of volunteers, Moselle participated in the successful defense of Thionville in 1792. November 25, 1799 promoted to colonel, and led the 20th linear semi-brigade. On August 19, 1800 he was transferred to the 43rd in the same rank. March 8, 1801 led the 24th regiment of infantry.

He took part in the Austrian , Prussian and Polish campaigns, fought in the mantles of the 2nd division of the Augereau corps . He was wounded at Golyimin, at Eilau his regiment was almost completely destroyed, and he himself was seriously wounded. On February 21, his 24th regiment became part of the Dupont division . He distinguished himself at Friedland. November 10, 1807 promoted to brigadier generals. On August 22, 1808 he headed the headquarters of the 1st Corps of the Great Army , from September 7, as part of the Spanish Army. July 31, 1811 became a division general.

From October 1 to October 30, 1811, he commanded the infantry division of the 4th Corps of the Southern Army in Spain. Then, from October 30 to November 11, 1811, the commander of the 1st reserve infantry division of the same army. Passed the command due to health problems. On February 5, 1812, the commander of the 5th Infantry Division of the Andalusian Army. From April 1 to August 25, 1812 he commanded the siege of Cadiz .

January 9, 1813 was recalled to France, and from July 13 to November 25, 1813 commanded the 52nd Infantry Division in the observation corps in Bavaria, and then in the 9th and 10th corps of the Great Army . From November 25, 1813 to May 1814 he commanded the 51st Infantry Division of the 4th Corps of the Great Army.

After returning, Bourbon received the position of inspector general of infantry of the 19th military district, and performed these functions from June 20 to December 31, 1814. Then he became the inspector general of infantry in the 18th and 19th military districts until May 3, 1815.

After Napoleon returned from Elba , Semlet was appointed Governor of Strasbourg on May 3, 1815. After the second restoration , the general is left without a job, and is engaged in agriculture in his estate Jurville. February 15, 1822 he was elected deputy. In the same year, participated in a duel with General Laffon, defending the honor of the Great Army . Re-elected in 1830.
