UN Security Council Resolution 96 is a resolution adopted on November 10, 1951. The Security Council, having received and noted the report of the representative of the United Nations in India and Pakistan, Frank P. Grem , and also after hearing his speeches before the Council, he approved his program of demilitarization in the princedom of Jammu and Kashmir . In this resolution, the Council noted that it was necessary to continue to work towards a peaceful settlement of the situation, to continue to respect the ceasefire, and the Council approved the principle that the territorial issue of the princedom of Jammu and Kashmir should be resolved in the course of a free and impartial plebiscite under the auspices of the UN. The resolution also invites Graham to continue to make every effort to resolve the Kashmir conflict and calls on the parties to the conflict to provide all possible assistance in his efforts to find solutions to the issues that have developed between India and Pakistan .
