Biography

Born September 15, 1929 in Belgorod . In 1952 he graduated from the Kharkov Polytechnic Institute . He worked as an engineer, assistant, head of the research laboratory of the university, vice-rector for science. He headed the Department of Radio Electronics, headed the Institute of the Ionosphere. He chaired the scientific council on the Ionosphere problem at the Department of Physics and Astronomy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine . Winner of the Prize of the Council of Ministers of the USSR, scholarship holder of a nominal scholarship of KD Sinelnikov, Kharkiv Regional State Administration.

The main directions of scientific activity: the study of near-Earth outer space by remote sensing Creation of a unique research complex consisting of incoherent scattering radars with the world's largest anti-aircraft parabolic antenna with a diameter of 100 m, a heating stand with a 300 × 300 m wide-band short-wave antenna [1] .

For the first time, he obtained results indicating perturbations in the ionosphere at global distances caused by powerful ground-based explosions, the displacement of the plasma region heated by powerful short-wave radiation, the behavior of hydrogen ions over Ukraine and the USA, and the effect of solar eclipse on the ionosphere above the ionization maximum [2] .

V. I. Taran was the chairman of the Scientific Council on the Ionosphere problem at the Department of Physics and Astronomy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the chairman of the commission on ionospheric research of the IAAS Space Research Committee, and also a member of the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences on the complex problem of radio wave propagation [3] .
