Until 1820, the Khanate was part of the Bukhara Emirate . In 1885 it was annexed to Afghanistan.

In 1878, Colonel N. I. Grodekov, while traveling to Afghanistan, mentioned the Andhoy Khanate:

N. I. Grodekov. 1883. What is Afghan Turkestan? It consisted of the following khanates: Mymen, Sarypul, Shibirkhan, Akcha, Andkhoy, Balkh, Gurzivan, Darzab, Kunduz and Badakhshan. Currently, only one small Andhoy khanate remained semi-independent. The current khan of Andhoy saved his possessions for the help and assistance that he rendered to the troops of Shir Ali Khan during the conquest of Meymen. Mir-Daulet-khan receives an annual pension from the Kabul treasury in the amount of 12,000 rupees (7.200 rubles). In Andkhoi, a regiment of Afghan cavalry, which has the mission to protect the khan's possessions from the raids of the Turkmen, is constantly standing. Khan himself is obliged to report annually to the Tahtapul governor-general, to Mazar-e-Sheriff, with gifts that go to the Kabul treasury. In the internal administration, Mir-Daulet Khan acts independently and has the power to bring the death penalty to his subjects. Thus, Shir Ali Khan regarding this despot applied the policy practiced by the British in Hindustan. Not having a legal excuse to directly annex Andha, he made Mir-Daulet-Khan his retiree and then keeps an army with him, which, under the pretext of protecting the Khanate from the Turkmen, pretends to be a sword of Damocles, ready to descend, only the current despot will become disagreeable to the emir.
