Biography
Born on April 13, 1788 in the Serbluzhitsky village of Chorny-Holmts in a teacher's family. The younger brother of Jeremias Bohuslav Glovan and Samuel Glovan, who were both teachers. Engaged in self-education to become a teacher. In 1802-1803 he was an assistant to the teacher of his brother Samuel in the Lower Luzhny village of Malin, and from 1803-1805 he was an assistant to Jeremias Boguslav in one of the Serbluzhitsky villages in the vicinity of Budishin . Since 1805, he taught independently in various Lower Luzhitsky villages - in Kokrevo (1805-1806), Pryazvoz (1806-1810), Popojce (1810-1814) and at the school at the Cottbus Monastery Church (1814-1819). In 1816 he founded the Society of Cottbus Teachers. From 1819 to 1825 he was a teacher in Nova Cel . In 1825 he moved to Berlin, where he was the director of a new school for orphans at the Gali Gate. In 1856 he retired.
He has published many teaching materials, in particular, Anweisung zum Rechnen nach naturgemäßen Grundsätzen (1821). He was involved in the publication of the pedagogical journal Volksschulfreund for public school teachers. Since 1806, he published poems and stories in the Upper Luzhitsky and Lower Luzhitsky languages on the pages of the Serbo Luzhitsa periodical. Together with Ian Schindlar, he participated in the publication of a translation of the Bible into the Lower Sorbian language, which appeared in two editions in 1821 and 1824. As a member of the Berlin Society of Scripture, from 1837 to 1843 he was engaged in translations of six Christian treatises, which he published from three to ten thousand copies in the Upper Luzhitsky and Lower Luzhitsky languages.
