Biography
His mother, born in Veracruz, was from a Lebanese family. Father died when the boy was 4 years old. The family spent many years in wandering (the mother worked in the diplomatic service). When he was 6 years old, his mother and son settled in Guatemala , in the city of Quetzaltenango , in which he began to attend piano lessons with Jesus Castillo ( Spanish: Jesús Castillo ). Five years later, he moved to Santiago , where Carlos continued his studies in music. In 1932, the family settles in Brussels , where the young man first studies to be an engineer, but in the next year, 1933, he enthusiastically switches to music lessons: piano with Madame Jacobi and harmony with Nelly Jones. In 1936, he won the piano competition, not forgetting to take music lessons in Paris at the same time from Rene Leibovitz , who instilled in Mubarak a love of dodecafony . In 1937 he returned to his homeland, to Mexico. Here he finds a mentor, Sylvester Revueltas , who arranges him for the National Conservatory in which he works from 1942 until 1968.
