Pella hlavaci (lat.) Is a species of myrmecophilic staphylinid beetles of the genus Pella from the tribe Lomechusini (subfamily Aleocharinae ) [1] [2] [3] .

Description

The length of the elongated body is 5.5 - 5.7 mm (subparallel sides), head length 0.76 - 0.78 mm, head width 0.84 - 0.85 mm. The main color is brown and partially red-brown (antennae, mouth organs, legs and part of the elytra and abdominal segments). Antennae 11-segmented. The head is frontally rounded, with an occipital suture, without a neck. The length of the eyes is 0.32 - 0.33 of the width of the head. Pronotum and elytra covered with setae. Hind wings developed. The formula of the legs (the number of segments in the front, middle and hind legs): 4-5-5. Ligula without bristles, but with sensilla. Myrmecophilic relations with ants , carrion and predators are characteristic. Found in anthill Lasius fuji from the subgenus Dendrolasius . The species was first described in 2006 by Japanese coleopterologist M. Murayama ( Munetoshi Maruyama ; Department of Zoology, National Science Museum, Tokyo , Japan ). The species name was given in honor of the Slovak entomologist Peter Glavac (Mr. Peter Hlavac, Kosice , Slovakia ) [1] [2] .
