Creation History

DOTYK emerged in early 2015 from the To Be initiative. Queer ( Being. Queer ) - a spontaneous and flexible association of initiatives, which during its existence acted as a negotiation platform for the ideological consolidation of activists and activists, researchers and researchers who are not indifferent to discrimination. In mid-2015, the association To To. Queer ceased to exist, and DOTYK gained independence.

Initially, DOTYK was planned as a film festival with accompanying events, which would take place once a year and help to comprehend the experience of those who are discriminated on any grounds. The first festival was held in Minsk in February 2015 and included screenings of feature films and documentaries, animations, exhibitions, lectures, workshops, concerts and meetings with Belarusian and foreign guests. However, in the future, the format of the project has undergone many changes. DOTYK outgrew the borders of the film festival itself and began to combine different formats, turned into a queer culture festival, mastered various venues, and went beyond the capital. The first “VandroKny DOTYK” ( belor. Wandering touch ) was held in autumn 2015 in Brest , Vitebsk and Grodno . [one]

Format

Currently, DOTYK regularly holds cultural and educational events in Minsk and the regional centers of Belarus. In addition, DOTYK willingly collaborates with creative people, regardless of their degree of fame and experience, works on the creation of art projects relevant in the Belarusian context. DOTYK builds communication not in the language of the academy, but in the language of art, since art reflects the complexity and diversity of the world, the variability that is everywhere present in it.

Principles and Values

DOTYK team values are based on the principle of non-discrimination in a broad sense. DOTYK opposes xenophobia , fascism , anti-Semitism , sexism , homo , trans , and bifobia , militarism , colonialism and other forms of social depreciation. The project seeks to disseminate knowledge that the marginalization of various anti-human groups is intrinsic and that differences do not cancel the opportunity to coexist in an atmosphere of respect and acceptance. The activity is aimed at the Belarusian offline space, therefore, one of the priorities is the creation of safe spaces for discussion, exchange of views and dating [2] .
