Club career
Lucas Hernandez is a graduate of the club Atletico Madrid , for which his father played. He ended up in the youth squad in 2007 at the age of 11. In 2014, Lucas was transferred to the club’s second team, for which he played in Segund B. On November 9, 2013, he was first included in the application of the main team of Atletico for the match of the championship of Spain against Villarreal , but did not enter the field [6] .
In June 2014, Hernandez extended the contract with the club until 2018 [7] . On December 3, 2014, he made his debut for the main squad, having played the full match against Hospitalet in the Spanish Cup [8] . December 21, 2014, Lucas made his debut in the Example, replacing at the end of the match against Athletic Bilbao [9] . On August 10, 2015, Hernandez extended the contract with the club until 2019 [10] .
On March 27, 2019, an agreement was announced to transfer Hernandez to Bavaria for a record € 80 million for the club. The player’s transfer took place on July 1, 2019 [11] [12] .
Team Career
From 2012 to 2017, Lucas played for France’s youth teams. As part of the national team under 19 years old, he played three matches at the 2015 European Championships .
In early March 2018, Lucas Hernandez rejected a call to the French national team, as he decided to play for the Spanish national team and was waiting for an invitation from Spaniard mentor Julen Lopetegui [13] . However, he later accepted the challenge from the French national team and already on March 23 played for her in a friendly match against Colombia . A participant in the 2018 World Cup , scored two assists, reached the finals with the national team and won the world championship itself.
