Biography
Ivan Khristov was born on March 3, 1982 in the city of Ruse . He began to actively engage in rowing from early childhood, was trained at the local sports club "Lokomotiv".
He achieved the first serious success at the international level in 2002 when he joined the main team of the Bulgarian national team and visited the European Championship in Hungarian Szeged, from where he brought a bronze medal award won by four-seater kayaks at a distance of 1000 meters, along with rowers like Peter Merkov , Milko Kazanov and Yordan Yordanov - only the crews from Slovakia and Hungary finished better. In addition, this season he performed at the World Championships in Seville, Spain, where in the same discipline with the same partners he also became a bronze medalist - this time the rowers from Slovakia and Germany went around to finish them.
Thanks to a series of successful performances, Khristov was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens - in twos at five hundred meters in pair with Jordan Jordanov managed to reach only the semi-finals stage, where he finished fifth, while in quarters at a thousand meters along with Jordanov , Kazanova and Merkovym reached the finals and showed the fourth result in the decisive race, a little short of reaching the prize positions. Soon after the end of these competitions, he decided to end his career as a professional athlete, giving way to the team of young Bulgarian oarsmen.
