Evgeny Arkadievich Kudryavtsev ( February 21, 1898 , St. Petersburg , Russian Empire - July 16, 1973 ) - Russian and Soviet tennis player , 17-time champion of the USSR in different categories (including four times in singles - 1925, 1927, 1928, 1934 ), 48-time champion of Leningrad (in different ranks), the first honored master of sports of the USSR among tennis players (1934), honored coach of the RSFSR (1968) [1] [2] [3] .

Biography
Evgeni Kudryavtsev was born on February 21, 1898 [1] [3] . He began to play tennis at the age of 10 on the courts of the Lahti tennis club “Clover Leaf” [1] .
Evgeni Kudryavtsev performed seven times in the finals of the USSR tennis championship and won four of them, thus becoming the four-time champion of the USSR (1925, 1927, 1928, 1934). In addition, he became the champion of the USSR in doubles eight times and five times in mixed doubles [4] . He also became the absolute champion of the All-Union Spartakiad of 1928 , having won in all categories - singles, doubles and mixed. The tennis tournament of the sports day subsequently entered the statistics as the USSR tennis championship of 1928 [5] [6] .
In 1923-1949, Yevgeny Kudryavtsev became the champion of Petrograd / Leningrad 48 times in various categories, including 39 times in the summer championships (13 times in singles, 15 times in doubles and 11 times in mixed doubles) and 9 times in winter championships (2 times in single, 6 times in doubles and 1 time in mixed doubles) [1] [7] [8] .
Seven times (in 1927-1931, 1933 and 1934) Evgeni Kudryavtsev headed the list of the strongest tennis players of the USSR [9] . In 1934, he was the first Soviet tennis player to receive the honorary title of Honored Master of Sports of the USSR [1] .
Evgeni Kudryavtsev was the coach of many famous Soviet tennis players, including Anatoly Boytsov , Valentina Vasilyeva , Roman Grodninsky , Galina Ivanova , Vladimir Kizevetter , Galina Korovina , Andrei Lukirsky and Vladimir Palman [1] .
Evgeni Kudryavtsev died on July 16, 1973 [1] .
In 2004, he was included in the Russian Tennis Hall of Fame [10] .
