Family History
The history of the Nepeytsyns goes back centuries: according to legend, the surname owes its origin to one of the ancestors who refused to sing at a feast with the Tatar khan, for which he was executed. From here, allegedly, the surname of Nepeytsyna arose.
Another version originates from the word "nepea" - a person leading a sober lifestyle.
It is noteworthy that the Nepeytsyns did not come from the Principality of Moscow , but from Novgorod land: in 1406, in one of the spiritual letters of the Grand Duke Vasily I Dmitrievich , the Novgorod settlement "Nepeytsino" was mentioned, apparently founded by one of its representatives. At the end of the 15th century, Ivan III pursued a policy of collecting Russian lands, part of which was the weakening of the influence of the local nobility out of fears of separatism on her part, which led to the deportation of many noble Novgorodians to central districts. The Nepeytsyns are no exception: according to one version, their appearance in Muscovy can be traced by the appearance in the Kolomensky district of a village with the consonant genus name “Nepetsino” , which was founded no later than the 70s of the 16th century .
