Ekaterina Kirillovna Simonova-Gudzenko (nee Ekaterina Semyonovna Gudzenko ; born January 30, 1951 , Moscow ) - Soviet and Russian historian , Japanese scholar . Biography
Ekaterina Gudzenko was born on January 30, 1951 [1] in Moscow in the family of the poet and journalist Semyon Gudzenko and art critic Larisa Zhadova . After her father’s death in 1953 and her mother’s new marriage with Konstantin Simonov [K 1], she was adopted by Simonov and received a middle name in his passport name Cyril . Simonov’s son from his second marriage, Alexei Simonov , said about this:
Then our father adopted her. He did not already make the mistake that he had made in his time with Tolya Serov [K 2] , whom he had not adopted. He adopted Katka, loved her very much, and Katya is still the main guardian of his father’s covenants, and not only the covenants, but also the purity of his father’s robes and the closeness of his father’s ranks [2] .
In 1975, she graduated from the Institute of Asian and African Countries (ISAA) of MV Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU), in 1975-1979 she studied at the graduate school of the same institute. In 1980 she defended her thesis for the degree of candidate of historical sciences on the topic "Japanese myth and its role in the ancient history of Japan of the 7th-9th centuries" [1] .
From 1979 to 1993 she worked at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), where she was engaged in scientific, pedagogical and educational work. In 1992, Simonova-Gudzenko was awarded the title of Associate Professor at the Department of Oriental Studies [1] .
In 1993, she was invited to the position of assistant professor of the Department of History of the Far East and Southeast Asia, ISAA MSU; taught courses on history, history of religion, history of culture of Japan. In 2003, she was appointed head of the newly created Department of History and Culture of Japan, ISAA MSU. In 2006 she defended her thesis for the degree of Doctor of Historical Sciences on the topic "Representations of the geographical space of the archipelago in the written culture of ancient Japan." Professor [1] [3] .
His research interests are Shinto and mythology, the historical geography of Japan, the history of geographical representations, and the history of cartography in Japan [1] .
He teaches courses: the history of Japan (periods of Kamakura - Nambokutyo - Muromachi ), source studies and historiography of Japan, the history of religions of Japan, the historical geography of Japan, the history of Japanese culture, the evolution of geographical representations and the history of cartography of East Asia [1] .
The author of articles on Japanese mythology in the encyclopedia " Myths of the World " (1980), one of the authors of the Dictionary of Sources of Classical Japan (2006) [1] .
