The bus station building was built in 1971 by the project of architect A.Rochegov [2] , in 1997 a significant reconstruction of the building took place [3] . The modern bus station has ceased to meet the requirements of safety and comfort, and therefore in January 2017, the Moscow Committee approved the design of a new building [2] [4] . In accordance with this project, a multifunctional complex should appear on the site of the current bus station, combining the bus station and the shopping and entertainment area [5] .
Work on the reconstruction of the bus station began on June 14, 2017, the completion of work was scheduled for the end of 2018 –the beginning of 2019, then postponed to the end of 2019, then moved to 2021 [4] [6] [7] .
On April 25, 2017, at the Schelkovskoye Highway, the Tsentralnaya bus station opened, temporarily replacing the Central Bus Station, where all suburban routes of the station were transferred. The station is equipped with apron, cash, waiting areas, information boards, navigation signs [8] . In connection with the change of station, part of the international and interregional routes had to be reduced: 60 routes out of 92 were distributed among other bus terminals [2] .
New Station Project
It is planned that the building with a total area of 137.8 thousand m² will have 11 floors: six above ground and five underground [5] . On the ground floor there will be a cash room, a reference room and storage rooms [9] . Entertainment area, cafe and cinema with 500 seats will be located on the fifth floor. The sixth floor is reserved for waiting rooms, mother and child rooms, medical room. Five underground floors will be occupied by garages and car repair shops for buses, as well as hotels for drivers [10] . Eight aprons are provided for commuter and intraregional buses at the station, and access to interregional and international routes is planned on the sixth floor: special ramps for buses will be located at a height of 32 meters [11] [2] . Also in the new building it is assumed the presence of underground parking for 955 places, shops, cafes [12] . For communication between the floors, it is planned to build four transparent elevators, which will also be available for people with limited mobility [9] .
The appearance of the projected building resembles a glass ship with a translucent shell with a wave-like geometry, the upper part of which is planned to be revetted with corrugated aluminum panels [13] [9] .
According to the chairman of the Moscow City Construction Supervision, Vladimir Marchuk, the bus station will become part of the Shchelkovsky transport hub. It is assumed that it will daily serve about 15 thousand passengers and up to 1615 flights. It is also supposed to reconstruct the entrances to the station to improve the transport situation [4] [11] [9] .
Ticket sales
Before the reconstruction, the sale of tickets was carried out around the clock at the bus station ticket offices and on the website. You could also buy a ticket and see the bus schedule in the Central Bus Station mobile application, which launched Mosoblvokzaly JSC in September 2016 [3] [14] .
Bus routes
Daily Central Bus Station served about 30 thousand passengers. The average daily number of flights operated was 1,667, of which 23 were international flights, 133 interregional and 1511 intraregional.
