Club career

Alberts began his professional rugby career at Golden Lions . On February 2, 2007, he played his first match at the Super 14 Championship for Lions in Johannesburg against the Australian team Uarataz , which ended in the defeat of the Lions 16–25 [1] .

In 2010, Willem moved to the Sharks club, for which he debuted on February 13, 2010 in a meeting with the New Zealand “ Chefs ”, appearing on the replacement [2] . In the 2012 season, he managed to get to the finals of the Super Rugby tournament together with the club, in which they lost to Chiefs 37-6 [3] .

In 2010 [4] and 2013 [5], along with Natal Sharks , Alberts won final victories in the Curry Cup .

On May 19, 2015, Willem left the team at the end of the season [6] , and on July 1, Stud France confirmed the transfer of the rugby player to his camp [7] .

Team Career

The first official match for the Springbox , Alberts played on November 13, 2010 in a test game with the team of Wales , having spent 1 time on the field and scored one attempt, which became decisive for the final victory of the South Africans [8] . In two subsequent matches of 2010 with Scotland [9] and England [10] he also scored one attempt.

August 30, 2011 Willem was included in the application for participation in the World Cup [11] . At this tournament, Alberts had 5 matches, including one in the starting lineup against Namibia [12] , but was not marked by any effective actions.

In 2012 and 2013, he played for the national team all 12 meetings in the framework of the Rugby Championship , in which, together with the team, he took third and second places, respectively. In 2014 , Alberts could not help the team and was removed from the squad during the tournament due to a back injury [13] .

On August 28, 2015, Willem was again included in the national team for participation in the 2015 World Cup [14] , at which he again played 5 matches.
