Latakia ( Arabic: اللاذقية ) - district (mintaka) as part of Latakia governorate , Syria . The administrative center is the city of Latakia.

Geography
The area is located in the northern part of Latakia governorate, on the border with Turkey. In the east it borders with Idlib governorate and the Al-Haffa region , in the south with the Jabla region, in the southeast with the El Kardah region , and in the north with Turkey. In the west and southwest it is washed by the Mediterranean Sea. Tourism is developed in the area. Olives, citrus fruits and apples are grown. The mountains of Turkmenistan and the Khmeimim air base are located on the territory of the district. Since 2012, it has been a battle zone in the Syrian civil war .
