Jane Atkinson ( born Jayne Atkinson , born February 18, 1959 , Bournemouth , Dorset ) - Anglo-American actress. Best known for the role of Karen Hayes in the television series " 24 Hours ", as well as the roles in the plays "The Seller of the Rain " and "The Sorcerer of April", for which she was nominated for the Tony Award. Early life and education
Jane Atkinson was born in Bournemouth , Dorset , England , but her family moved to the United States in 1968, when Jane was nine years old. She grew up in Hollywood , Fla. , And graduated from Pine Crest School, where she was elected prom queen in 1977. She studied at Northwestern University (bachelor's degree in communications, 1981), where she was a member of the women's fraternity Alpha Chi Omega and Laura Innes's “sister”; and at the Yale School of Drama [1] .
Career
Theater
After working in regional theaters, Atkinson appeared in the off-Broadway production of Bloody Poetry at the Manhattan Theater Club in 1987. In the same year, she debuted on Broadway in a revived performance based on Arthur Miller ’s play All My Sons . Subsequently, she received leading roles in many stage productions, including Henry VIII , True, and The Art of Success. She received the Drama Desk Award for Best Actress in the play "Striker" in 1996. Atkinson's work in the play “The Seller of the Rain ” by the Theater Company in 1999 brought her a nomination for the “ Tony ” award, and her performance in the production of “Sorcerer April” in 2003 brought the second nomination to “Tony” and the nomination for the “ Drama Desk ” award . In 2009, she performed the role of Ruth Condomine in the Broadway revival of the performance by Noel Kauard ’s play “Restless Spirit” [1] , which also involved Rupert Everett , Christine Ebersoul and Angela Lansbury .

Atkinson starred with her husband in the TV house " House of Cards ", although not as a couple; Gill played the role of Garrett Walker, the 45th President of the United States, and Atkinson played the role of Catherine Durand, the US Secretary of State.
