The holotype and the only specimen was found in petrified river sediments (formation of Donguz rocks) near the Berdyanka River of the Orenburg Region of Russia [2] . An analysis of David Gower and Andrei Sennikov in 1997 excluded the species from the family Proterosuchidae and attributed it to the basal archosaurs [3] , and in 2000 it confirmed the previous version [4] .

The animal is known for one partial skeleton, including parts of the skull and jaw, cervical vertebrae and scapula. The full skull of the animal could be about 35 cm in length, and it is likely that the animal was 1.5 m long. The skull was relatively long, high behind and equipped with a bend bent down. The view probably looked like the more famous Proterosuchus .
