Syed Mahmoud Reza Miran Faskhandi ( Pers. سید محمودرضا میران فشندی ; born February 25, 1974 ) - Iranian heavyweight weightlifter, played for the national team of Iran in the early 1990s - late 2000s. Participant of two summer Olympic games, winner of the bronze medal at the World Championships, four times silver medalist of the Asian Games, champion of Asia, winner of many tournaments of national and international importance.

Biography
Mahmud Miran was born on February 25, 1974.
He achieved his first serious success at an adult international level in 1993 when he entered the main team of the Iranian national team and visited the Asian Championships in Macau, from where he brought two awards of bronze dignity won in heavy and absolute weight categories. A year later, in the category over 95 kg, he won a silver medal at the Asian Games in Hiroshima - the only defeat suffered here in the final from the Japanese Jun Jun Konno , the reigning champion of Asia. Two years later, he won the Asian Championship in Ho Chi Minh City, took over all his rivals, while in the absolute weight category he had to be content with a bronze medal [1] .
In 1998, Miran won a silver medal at the Asian Games in Bangkok, in a decisive match, lost to Japanese heavyweight Shin-ichi Shinohara . The following season, he received two bronze awards at the Asian Championships in Wenzhou China, was the third in both weight categories, heavy and absolute. A year later, at similar competitions in Japanese Osaka, he took bronze in heavy weight and silver in the open weight category, losing to Japanese Tatsuhiro Muramoto . Thanks to a series of successful performances, he won the right to defend the honor of the country at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney , but in the opening bout he lost to German Frank Möller [1] .
At the 2002 Asian Games in Busan, Mahmoud Miran twice climbed the podium, received a bronze medal in the absolute weight category and a silver medal in the heavy one - in the decisive match was defeated by the Japanese Yasuyuki Muneta . In the season of the next year, I added a bronze medal to the Asian championship in Jeju from Korea. Being among the leaders of the Iranian national team, he successfully qualified for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens - this time he performed better, defeated the first three rivals, including Turkish representative Selim Tataroglu in the 1/16 finals and Australian Semir Pepic in the quarter finals, and only at the stage of semifinals he was defeated by the titled Russian Tamerlan Tmenov . In the consolation meeting for the third place, he lost to the Dutchman Dennis van der Gest [1] .
After the Athens Olympics, Miran remained in the first team of the Iranian judo team and continued to take part in major international regattas. So, in 2005, in absolute weight, he took bronze at the Asian Championships in Tashkent, then won the silver award at the Asian Games in Doha, the only loss made in the final when he met with Korean Kim Sonbom . The following season, he won silver at the Asian Championships in Kuwait, and in the final of the absolute weight category, he met with Japanese Xingya Katabuchi and lost to him. The last time showed any significant result in the international arena in the 2008 season, when he brought a silver medal from the Asian Championship in Jeju, this time in the final he was defeated by Korean Kim Song Ming . Soon after the end of these competitions, he decided to end his career as a professional athlete [1] .
