Biography
She was the daughter of Heinrich Beils. The king met her in 1938 while playing golf. On September 11, 1941, Lillian becomes his second wife, whom he married after the death of Queen Astrid of Sweden . The wedding took place in secret. As the wife of Leopold received the title of Princess de Retie. Lilian was never accepted in Belgium. They called her the black angel Laken. In 1958, she founded the Princess Liliana Foundation to help heart patients. She loved her stepchildren, who called her "mother". After her husband died in 1983, she founded the Leopold III Foundation, to preserve the memory of him.
