The Time Tunnel ( The Time Tunnel ) is Malaysia’s first museum of memorabilia [1] located in Brinchang and is considered the main attraction of the alpine resort Cameron Highlands (approximately 90 km (56 miles) from Ipoh or 200 km (120 miles) from Kuala Lumpur [2] .

The complex is unique to the peninsula of Malaysia , as it contains exhibits and memorials that resemble life in Malaysia in the pre-war years.
The exhibition was founded in January 2007 and it is constantly updated. The museum is located in the basement of Kok Lim Strovberry Farm. Two-level room occupies a corridor more than 80 meters long. Here are more than 4,000 items and photographs that are displayed in eight galleries covering approximately 14,000 square feet.
The museum can be reached by car or public transport. The museum is located 2 km from Brinchang and 7 km from the city of Tanah Rata.
The museum is open daily from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm [3] . Any shooting is allowed here.
Key collection exhibits
Aboriginal Section
This zone covers the lifestyle of the local residents of the resort ( Orang Asli ). Their tools, things and products are exposed on the floor and walls.
Barber Shop
This section is equipped with: hairdressing chair, signs, mirrors, razors, pigments, scissors, hair sprays, shaving accessories, hair dryers, scissors for haircuts, hair curlers and a large selection of hairbrushes. The walls are hung with posters that once advertised hairdressing. A special exhibit of this “shop” is a hairdressing chair, which is more than 50 years old.
Kids Corner
This area is filled with boards, school uniforms, furniture, counting devices, a wide selection of toys. Nearby there is an office where such reminders as pens, erasers, sharpeners, roulettes, textbooks, school icons are presented. [four]
Coffee Shop
The installation resembles an old diner "Kopi Tiam" and is equipped with a cash register, wooden chairs, stools, tables, mirrors, clocks, mechanical ventilators, ash trays, matchboxes, abacus, chopsticks, straws, spittoons , bottle openers, trays, coffee cups, grinders for ice and soft drink collection. Here drinks are not for sale.
Exhibits and Memo
Their list is endless and includes: a collection of old banknotes, coins, postage stamps, envelopes, books, watches, analog phones, baby bottles, transistor radios, monochrome televisions, mechanical fans, sewing machines, blinds, bills, wooden screens, frames for pictures, cameras, mugs, signboards, magazines, newspapers, radiograms, gramophones, gramophone records, postcards, players, posters, lampshades, ceiling lights, scales, wall tiles, cards, calendars, luggage bags, ashtrays, match boxes coves, motorcycles, bicycles, tricycles, stamps, letters, flags, safes, caps, road signs, kerosene lamps, drawings, phone cards, comics, irons, typewriters, musical instruments, paper umbrellas, hats, t-shirts, notebooks, bottle caps, paper bags, sports equipment, key chains, silverware and jewelry. “We intend to double our inventory by the end of 2016,” says curator Si Kok Shan. "Otherwise, we will just be left behind."
Jim Thompson Corner
The niche is located in the middle of the museum and covers an area of approximately 50 square feet. Most of the exhibits here are memories of Jim Thompson, who disappeared from Cameron Highlands on Sunday March 24, 1967.
Kitchen block
Along the second level of the room is a kitchen unit. This is the place where time has practically stopped. Here on the shelves are wonderfully collected: gas stoves, pans, pots, porcelain bowls, chili powders, plates, cutlery, firewood, meat coolers, ovens, meat grinders, scoops, thermoses and food containers.
Additional Services
The museum has a cafe that serves Oriental and local delights. It is open daily from: 9:00 to 18:00.
Important fact
The museum was visited by Miss Hong Kong (Ms. Cheung Edelweiss), the first and second vice-miss (Ms. Sky Chan and Ms. Ma Sia) during their tour of Malaysia in August 2008. They stayed in the complex for more than an hour. Their goodwill tour was organized by Hong Kong Television Broadcasts Limited, Tourism Malaysia, and Hong Thai Travel Services.
