Tauba or tawba ( Arabic: توبة ) - in Islam , repentance , prayer to Allah for the remission of sins. Repentance, often done after every sin, is called tauba al-istigfar . Repentance from any sin, performed simultaneously with the intention to no longer commit it, is called tauba an-dry . Such repentance must be strictly followed [1] .
The need for repentance is mentioned in many Quranic verses and Hadiths. Repentance is an obligatory (fard) action after any perfect sin , and you cannot be late with it. Repentance is accomplished by fixing it in the heart and expressing it with the tongue. If all the conditions for repentance are fulfilled, the Muslim must hope that Allah will forgive him [1] .
The ninth sura of the Qur'an is also called "Tauba." It consists of 129 verses. All the verses, except the last two, were sent down in Medina [1] .
