Biography
He began to receive a musical education in his hometown, taking lessons from Clotilde de la Barra (piano) and Domingo Brescia (harmony and counterpoint). In 1898-1904 he continued his studies at the Milan Conservatory . Upon returning to his homeland, he begins to teach at the Chilean Conservatory , where in 1906 he became a professor. In the years 1919-1928 - rector. He performed a lot. In 1942 he became a member of the Directorate for the dissemination of musical culture. It is considered one of the founders of the modern composer school. He was a recognized representative of Chilean romanticism.
