Biography
Childhood and Youth
Born in Kragujevec, in a poor urban family with his father Andrei and mother Gini. At sixteen, from Kragujevec, he sets off to wander in order " so that the people hear his music ." He takes only a guitar with him . The road leads him to Bosnia , where he writes sevdalinki : “At the old old town of Visegrad”, “From Bosnie песedna pesma chuјe”, “Bosanské me pesme zanјeshe”, “Passage Bosniy Kroz grad”, which have long been part of the cultural heritage of the peoples of the former Yugoslavia.
After Bosnia, the road leads him to Dalmatia , where, inspired by the sea and ships, he writes songs in the Dalmatian folk style: “Oh, linden ty unknowingly”, “Oh, wandering around,” “Mare, Mare, sriћo moјa” (Kad si bila Mala Mare).
Upon returning to Serbia, he creates a number of songs that over time have received the status of folk songs: “Become, become, Ibar vodo”, “Obrache se grapes dole kraј Topole”, “Lepé sun nano Gružanka girl”, “Moravia is old,” “There is other things, but don’t be married”, “Aјd 'd' ideo Rado”, “Siromah himself, friend”, “Harmoniko moјa” and many others.
World War II
In Kragujevec, the Second World War catches him. He was sentenced to be shot in Shumaritsy , however, one of the Germans recognized him as a composer, and he was sent to the German city of Dormagen . In Dormagen, he spent four years as a prisoner of war. After the war ended, Dragisa Nedovich returns to his hometown and learns that a huge number of lyrics of his songs were destroyed.
After the war
However, he continues to compose music and write songs. Together with his friends, he founded the first "Union of Composers and Songwriters in the Folk Style", and in 1950 his lungs became ill. He writes the sad song "Pluћa su mi bologna", the public performance of which was banned due to the large number of suicides. After 16 years, he dies of a heart attack. After him, two children remained, son Alexander and daughter Rada.
Value
The special seal that will remain in the history of music will be reflected in the huge heritage of more than four hundred songs, without which today there is not a single holiday in Serbia that can be heard every day both in Bashcharsia and in the Dalmatian coastal region.
Connoisseurs of Serbian musical history believe that Dragisa Nedovic, as a self-taught musician, was unfairly branded as a “poet machine”, which was especially emphasized during the reign of socialist realism. But this poet-machine created an infinite song, “Have a old old deg Visegrad,” which, as one of Nedovich’s friends said, “ Alexa Shantich himself would not be ashamed . ”
This song, which most people still consider folk, was written in 1936 and published under the name "Јutros early to hear" (Have a old old deg Visegrad). It was first performed by Himzo Half in the mid-fifties. But for more than 60 years this song was sung desecrated, as a stanza was ejected from it, which says about his return to Serbia: [1]
Tire, correct me, by the way.
We go to Srbiјu, in his own native degree.
For you Ku Kiko, forever and tight.
It’s for himself that they themselves leave Mlado.
Every year, starting in 2006 , a festival of folk music, named after Dragishi Nedovich, is held in Vrnjachka Banja .
