James Norman Davidson ( born James Norman Davidson ; March 5, 1911 , Edinburgh , Scotland - September 11, 1972 ) is a Scottish biochemist and teacher.

Biography
Born March 5, 1911 in Edinburgh. In 1934 he graduated from the University of Edinburgh. From 1937 to 1938 he worked at the Institute of Physiology of the Kaiser Wilhelm cell, from 1938 to 1945 - at the universities of Scotland. From 1946 to 1948 he served as professor of biochemistry at the University of London , from 1948 to 1972 he served as head of the department of physiological chemistry at the University of Glasgow .
He died on September 11, 1972.
Scientific work
The main scientific works are devoted to the biochemistry of nucleic acids.
- In his research he used isotopes and tissue culture methods.
- 1956-60 - One of the authors of the manual " Nucleic Acids " (v. 1-3).
Membership in organizations
- Member of the Royal Society of London (1960-72).
- President of the Edinburgh Royal Society (1964-67).
