Biography
Peter Alexander began his musical career before the war in the famous Vienna Boys Choir , then (as a teenager) went to war - served in the Luftwaffe . In 1945 he was captured by British troops. After the war, he entered Vienna to study acting at the Max Reinhardt Theater Workshop ( Max Reinhardt Seminar ). In 1948 he began a professional acting career [2] .
He became famous as an actor of musical films in the early 1950s. In the 1960s, thanks to a series of comedy films about Count Bobby (he played the main role - the graph) popularity has increased [2] .
Later, in 1972, Peter Alexander began to host his own television show-variety show “Die Peter Alexander Show” on television. This program, which came off the screens only in 1995, became his main work [2] .
Still, he enjoyed the greatest success as a crooner singer — two dozen hits over more than 40 years, from the beginning of the 1950s. Among the songs that became hits in Austria are: “Mädchen Weine Nicht”, “Das Wunder Bist Du”, “Der Letzte Walzer”, “Komm und Bedien Dich” [2] .
He died on February 12, 2011, at the age of 85 [3] .
