Crater Crater ( lat. Racah ) - a large ancient impact crater in the equatorial region of the far side of the moon . The name was given in honor of the Italian-Israeli physicist and mathematician Giulio Cancer (1909-1965) and approved by the International Astronomical Union in 1970. The formation of the crater belongs to the nectar period [1] .

Crater Description
The nearest neighbors of the crater are Aitken Crater in the west-south-west; Daedalus crater in the north; Amici Crater in the east-northeast; McKellar Crater in the east-southeast; Crater De Frieze in the south-south-east and Bergstrand crater in the south-west [2] . Selenographic coordinates of the center of the crater , diameter 71.9 km [3] , depth 2.7 km [1] .
The crater has a polygonal shape with protrusions in the southern and southeastern parts. The shaft is flattened, in the northern and southern parts it has depressions. The inner slope of the shaft has a ledge in the eastern part. The shaft height above the surrounding area reaches 1230 m [1] , the volume of the crater is approximately 3400 km³ [1] . The bottom of the bowl is crossed, with the exception of a flat area in the southwestern part. In the center of the bowl is a rounded peak and a short, flattened ridge; to the east of it is an elliptical crater.
