Biography
Born on June 30, 1847 in the village of Krasocin. In 1869 he graduated from the University of Warsaw . From 1878 to 1919, he served as professor at the University of Krakow, from 1919 to 1928 - head of the department of the Institute of Agriculture in Pulawy. Since 1928, retired.
The father of Emil Godlevsky (Jr.) , a doctor, professor of embryology and biology and Tadeusz Godlevsky , a physicist and radiochemist.
He died on September 11, 1930 in Krakow.
Scientific work
The main scientific works are devoted to photosynthesis .
- He studied the respiration of plants, their absorption of water, the movement of water and minerals in them.
- He proved that carbon in the process of nitrification is absorbed from carbon dioxide in the air.
- Developed a methodology for assessing soil fertility by the chemical composition of plants grown on them.
