Career
Stoner began his professional career in the American Hockey League (AHL) , in the farm club that drafted his Minnesota, Houston Aeros , in which he spent four and a half seasons. His debut in the NHL came in the 2009/10 season , in which he played 8 games, gaining two assistant points and 12 penalty minutes. Stoner began playing regularly in the NHL since the start of the 2010/11 season , in which he played 57 matches for Wild. In the same season, he opened the scoring for his goals in the NHL on January 4, 2011, breaking through Johan Hedberg , who defended the gate of the New Jersey Devils .
In 2014, Clayton Stoner scored in a game against the Edmonton Oilers . In a fight against Luke Gazditch, he broke his finger so that the finger took the shape of the letter “L”. Nevertheless, Clayton found the strength to return to the game, rewinding the broken finger tightly, and almost repeatedly fought with Matt Hendricks , but the judges separated each other, not allowing a single blow.
On March 18, 2014, Stoner scored his 4th goal in the NHL, going one-on-one against the New York Islanders goalkeeper. Jumping out of the penalty box, he received a pass from the captain of the “savages” Mikko Koivu and outplayed goalkeeper Anders Nilsson with a trickery. Stoner interrupted an almost two-year goalless streak, scoring his first goal of the season and scoring 4-0 in favor of Wild. The match ended with the score 6-0.
During a lockout in the NHL in the 2012/2013 season, Stoner played for HC Banska Bystrica from the Slovak Extra League , scoring 5 scoring points in 8 games.
On July 1, 2014, Stoner, as a free agent, signed a four-year contract with Anaheim Ducks for a total of $ 13 million. [1]
Due to problems with the abdominal cavity, the defender did not play on November 15, 2016. [2]
In the expansion draft of 2017, he was selected as the new Vegas Golden Knights club by prior arrangement with Anaheim. Together with Stoner, promising defender Shi Theodor moved to Vegas.
Due to health problems, Clayton never played a single match for Vegas, earning a relapse of last year’s injury during the team’s training camp. After the season ended, Stoner's contract expired.
Personal life
In 2013, Stoneru posted a picture on the social network depicting him with a dead grizzly bear . Despite allegations of the legitimacy of Stoner's actions, he was charged with poaching, giving false testimonies and hiding the carcass of a bear. The player faces a fine of 250 thousand US dollars.
