Content

History

The district was formed in 1795 as part of the Podolsky governorship . In 1797, the county became part of the Podolsk province . In 1923, the county was disbanded, and the Letychivsky district of the Proskurov district was formed on its territory.

Population

According to the census of 1897, the county’s population was 184,477 people, including 7,248 people in the city of Letychiv [1] .

National composition

National composition according to the 1897 census [2] :

  • Ukrainians (Little Russians) - 149,120 people. (80.8%),
  • Jews - 24,387 people (13.2%),
  • Russians - 6809 people (3.7%),
  • Poles - 3164 people (1.7%)
