Story
The film begins with a conversation by Hauptmann Erich Neumann (Lincoln Hopp) over the phone with his family. Later he leaves the house and gives the command to the soldiers to shoot two Frenchmen. Meanwhile, the Allied forces begin the " Operation Dragoons "
On August 15, 1944, at 5:03 a.m., the 517th parachute airborne combat group was dropped in French Provence . Immediately paratroopers come under heavy fire, they were scattered for several miles. Corporal Harland Curtis (Jasen Wade), runs into a German patrol, the Germans are already preparing to kill him, but then Corporal James Rossi ( Corbin Olred ) appears and saves him. Paratroopers head to the gathering place - the city of Les Arcs .
Along the way, they meet an abandoned house, where they find Sergeant Caleb Jones (David Nibley), where they rest for a while, and later continue on their way, meeting the corpses of the killed paratroopers. Later they stop at a halt, where Rossi recalls the death of his friend Gates. After the rest, the guys go further and stumble upon a German patrol under the command of Hauptmann Neumann. During a small battle, all Germans, except Neumann, were killed, he was trying to escape, he was being followed by Sergeant Jones, but he did not dare to kill him.
Passing through the woods, soldiers stumble upon Emily’s French partisan, after which she asks for help to free the French Resistance group. Jones agrees with her and leads the guys for Emily, but Rossi disagrees with them and begins to protest. Passing through the field, the guys see an American plane chased by the German Messerschmitt , after which they fire at them.
After some time, the guys find the building where the captured partisans - Philip, Jacques and Gustav, are located, and free them, having killed the German soldiers. The guys continue their journey and stumble upon a passing jeep with the Germans dressed in American uniform. The Germans introduce themselves as Lieutenant Woodward and Private Stewart, and detain them for a while. Sergeant Jones realizes that they are Germans, and begins to pry why they are here, but only after the French shoot Stewart, he receives the necessary information. Jacques takes the captured German into resistance.
After some time, the guys stumble upon Jacques and two more partisans. Passing through the field, paratroopers and partisans stumble upon a convoy consisting of a Pz.Kpfw.III tank, an Sd Kfz 251 armored personnel carrier, and 20 foot soldiers. Divided into two groups, they attack the column. During the battle, Jones undermines the tank, but is seriously injured, and Curtis and almost all the partisans die. Rossi is injured in the shoulder and loses consciousness.
Neumann later finds Rossi who has come to himself, but hesitates to kill. Neumann drags Rossi into the barn. In the evening, Rossi woke up and begins to talk with Neumann. Neumann tries to make friends, but Rossi questions his sincerity, and does not understand why he saved him. After Rossi falls asleep, Neumann writes something in his notebook, grimacing in pain. The next morning, Rossi hears someone's footsteps and tries to wake Neumann, but he died.
The American patrol finds the wounded Rossi, and delivers to the regimental hospital, where the corporal learns about the fate of the remaining members of the group. In the hospital, Emily finds him, gives the camera to Curtis and talks about the outcome of the battle. Curtis photographs her as a keepsake.
