Greco-Roman wrestling competitions in the framework of the 1924 Olympic lightweight champion (up to 62 kilograms) were held in Paris from July 6 to 10, 1924 at the Winter Velodrome .

45 athletes from 20 countries showed up for the competition. However, from each country only two representatives could take part, therefore, taking into account five non-appearing, the title was played between 27 wrestlers. The youngest participant was Oswald KΓ€pp (19 years old), the oldest participant was Enrico Porro (39 years old).

The tournament was held according to the system with elimination after two defeats. The circle in which the number of remaining wrestlers became less than or equal to the number of prizes was declared final, and among the wrestlers participating in such a circle, after it was held, the number of wins and losses was calculated, depending on which places were allocated. If the number of victories and defeats was the same, then the preference was given to the wrestler who won more clean victories. If their number was the same, then preference was given to the fighter who achieved these victories faster.

The competition in weight was quite high. Among the contenders for the gold medal were Calle Antilla , the Olympic champion of previous games in the same weight but freestyle wrestling and world champion in 1921 and 1922 in Greco-Roman wrestling, Fridtjof Svensson , world champion in 1922 but light bantamweight, Aleksanteri Toivola , silver medalist of the 1921 World Cup, Eric Malmberg , bronze medalist of the same championship.

The forecasts were generally justified. Calle Antilla , having won seven of seven meetings, became the champion of the Olympic Games. Aleksanteri Toivola , having lost the final meeting to Anttile, became the silver medalist. The bronze medalist Eric Malmberg had the same balance of victories and defeats as Toivola, but Toivola had more clear victories, and besides, Malmberg lost to Toivola in a personal meeting.
