Initially (at least since 1902) Church Street (Kirkonkatu) in the city of Terijoki (Terijoki) was called part of the current Primorsky highway from the current Lenin Avenue to the border with the village of Komarovo . According to the Great Toponymic Encyclopedia, the name was due to the fact that nearby (on Lenin Avenue, 13) is the Evangelical Lutheran Church [1] . However, this church was built in 1908, much later than the first mention of Church Street. Rather, the street was called by the first Orthodox church of Teriok that stood on it - the wooden Kazan Church, which has been located since the 1880s on the site of the modern house 533 along Primorsky highway (burned down in 1907) [2] .

Obviously, after the opening of the new Orthodox Kazan Church in 1915 (the modern address is Primorskoye Shosse, 547), located in a small driveway from the current Lenin Avenue to Primorsky Shosse, the name Church Street passed to it.

In the period 1917-1939, when Terijoki were in the territory of the Republic of Finland, only the Finnish analogue of the same name was used - Kirkonkatu .

It was unclear when the name Club Street was assigned, and which club served as the reason for the assignment. The version of the Big Toponymic Encyclopedia, which connects this name with the club and cinema, which was located in the church building on 13 Lenin Avenue during the Soviet period, seems insufficiently substantiated.

On October 20, 2015, the toponymic commission of St. Petersburg decided to return the historical name Church Street to Club Street. The City of Zelenogorsk municipal initiative took the initiative and requested a return “in honor of the 100th anniversary of the consecration of the temple of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God” [2] . The official renaming took place on December 28, 2016 [3] [4] .

Without waiting for the official renaming, no later than December 2015 at both entrances to Club Street signs were set with the name “Church Street” [5] .
