Content
History
Karamysh station is part of the Saratov branch of the Volga Railway .
The station was founded in 1942 in connection with the construction of the Volga Rokada . The first train passed through Karamysh station on August 14, 1942 [2] . At the station, during the years of using steam and diesel traction, there was a revolving locomotive depot and a rest house for locomotive brigades. During electrification, the need for these facilities disappeared, but a traction substation was built [3] .
In 1945, at the station, arbitrarily fussed over the village of railway workers. In 1954, workers and employees of the Russian Railways, who lived at the Karamysh station and in the village of Ust-Zolikha , asked the Chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR K.E. Voroshilov to recognize their station as a working village and to allocate appropriate land for it. The request was rejected. By that time, its area was 9.63 ha, there were 124 yards [4] .
Physico-geographical characteristics
The village is located in the forest-steppe , within the Volga Upland , which is part of the East European Plain , on the right bank of the Karamysh River [5] . Southern chernozems are common in the vicinity of the village. The parent rocks are clay and loam [6] .
By road, Karamysh is located 91 km from Saratov and 22 km from the district center of Krasnoarmeysk [7] .
