Biography
Evgeny Yakovlevich Lebedev was born on November 23, 1919 in the village of Gorodok (now Rameshkovsky district of the Tver region ). In September 1938 he was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1940, Lebedev graduated from the Kalinin Military Chemical School [1] .
He participated in the battles of World War II , was wounded twice and once shell-shocked. In 1949, Lebedev graduated from the Military Academy of Chemical Protection . He served in the Far Eastern and Primorsky districts. In 1957 - 1961 he led the Central Scientific Testing Chemical Range, in 1961-1963 - Deputy Head of the Moscow Scientific Research Chemical Institute for Testing. From 1963 to 1966 he commanded the chemical forces of the Carpathian Military District [2] .
Since October 1966, Lebedev headed the Kostroma Higher Military Command School of Chemical Defense. In 1969, he was awarded the military rank of Major General of the Technical Troops. In 1984, retired. He lived in Kostroma, for a long time was chairman of the Kostroma City Council of war and labor veterans [2] . He went missing in the area of the village of Pesochne of the Nekrasovsky district of the Kostroma region during a campaign for mushrooms [2] . In 2011, a cenotaph was installed in the city cemetery of Kostroma.
Honorary citizen of Kostroma . He was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, two orders of the Red Star , the Order "For Service to the Homeland in the Armed Forces of the USSR" of the 3rd degree and a number of medals.
