Teaching activities

After graduating from the postgraduate course of the Kharkov Polytechnic Institute (NTU "KhPI") in 1982 she was sent to the Kharkov Institute of Public Utilities Engineers (University) to the department of technology of building production and building materials, where she currently works. Over the years, she has gone from a junior researcher to the head of the department.

For many years, she headed the section "Building Materials" at the department. From 1986 to 1999 she was the curator of academic student groups, gave lectures on the discipline "Building materials science" for 2nd year students of all construction specialties; special courses “Composite building materials” and “Scientific research” for 4 and 5 year students of the specialty “Urban construction and economy”; “Corrosion and protection of building materials and structures” for 5th year students of all construction specialties; special course for master-architects "The latest finishing building materials, products and structures." Students of her lectures today are students, graduate students, university teachers, as well as specialists in the construction industry.

Over the years of teaching, about 30 methodological publications have been prepared and printed. Each year, under her leadership, students prepare reports for participation in scientific conferences devoted to pressing topics in the construction industry, publish articles and abstracts in the collections of works of our university (“XXXV scientific and technical conference of teachers, graduate students and employees of the Kharkov National Academy of Urban Economics” ( 2010), “Sustainable development of cities” (2012, 2013), “Budіvnitsvo, reconstruction and vіdnovlennya buіvel of the city’s thanksgiving” (2014), “Effective technological solutions in construction using new generation concrete ”(2015)

Paying much attention to the training of highly qualified personnel, in 2005 she initiated the opening of postgraduate studies at the department in the specialty 05.23.05 - building materials and products and prepared two candidates of technical sciences (A. A. Baranova, A. O. Atinyan) who remained working at the department after successful defense of dissertations. Now, under her leadership, graduate student A. V. Erokhina is preparing to defend her dissertation.

Due to the high scientific and pedagogical level, professional and human qualities, Elena Vladimirovna is respected and respected among students. Her students successfully work in universities, enterprises in Ukraine and many other countries.

Scientific activity

The scientific interests of Elena Vladimirovna Kondrashchenko relate to the physical and chemical foundations of the production of building materials, improving the efficient use of material resources and reducing the energy and material consumption of products.

Her scientific developments are confirmed by 27 copyright certificates and patents of Ukraine and Russia. In 2002, together with co-authors V. I. Babushkin and B. V. Gusev, from the International Association of Authors of Scientific Discoveries, she received a commemorative medal and a diploma on the discovery “The regularity of volumetric changes in structured colloidal systems”.

Scientific developments E.V. Kondrashchenko

І. Based on thermodynamic calculations, E.V. Kondrashchenko developed a model, technology, and industrial-research installation of gypsum roasting in a high-speed coolant flow to obtain a strong gypsum binder mainly of α-modification.

Taking into account physical and chemical processes:

- scientifically substantiated an effective method of heat treatment of gypsum from the point of view of increasing the efficiency of the firing process and improving the quality of the resulting product, namely α-form calcium sulfate hemihydrate of increased strength and water resistance;

- the mechanism of the processes of structuring colloidal chemical phenomena was studied, which made it possible to scientifically substantiate the choice of additives that strengthen the structure of gypsum stone;

- to select the composition of non-shrinking building materials, the causes of volumetric changes in gypsum stone have been investigated.

In the works and studies of E.V. Kondrashchenko, further development has been gained in the improvement of the technology for the production of gypsum binders and products based on them, the intensification of the processes for producing dense and cellular gypsum concrete of various purposes on new theoretically substantiated and confirmed in practice scientific positions. The patent of Ukraine No. 31289 “Method for burning gypsum in a dangling state at elevated pressure” was obtained for the proposed method of burning gypsum (Method for vipalu gypsum in a hung mill with a suspended grip).

II. For 15 years, under the leadership of E.V. Kondrashchenko, theoretical and experimental studies have been carried out to develop penetrating waterproofing compositions. Theoretical developments were based on calculations of ionic equilibrium constants in binder-water systems with additives in the form of electrolyte solutions, taking into account colloid-chemical phenomena and electro-surface properties of dispersed particles and neoplasms in cement systems. As a result, the patent of Ukraine No. 73395 “Penetrating composition for the restoration of destroyed concrete” (penetrating composition for renovating concrete) for penetrating waterproofing compounds “Viatron” in the form of dry building mixtures was developed and protected. They have all the positive properties of both traditional protective materials and penetrating mixtures, which are characterized not only by adhesive, but also by cohesive strength. The range of developed penetrating formulations includes: expanding dry mixtures of quick hardening, which can not only eliminate leakage in a few minutes and heal the concrete around the cavity, but also prevent the appearance of new leaks; compositions for the repair of reinforced concrete structures, where rust inhibitors and converters are introduced as additives to protect and bring rebar into a passive state.

The special formula of the waterproofing composition allows you to initiate the osmotic process in the surface layer of the structure and, as a result, sealing the pores in the body of the structure, which makes it waterproof. In this case, the gel pores remain open, which allows the structure to "breathe".

ІІІ. One of the most important areas of development of the construction complex of Ukraine today is to save energy costs and reduce the cost of building materials and products based on them, which is necessary to reduce the cost of production of mineral thermal insulation materials in the form of lightweight aggregates for concrete and mortars, which include expanded vermiculite. Therefore, the improvement of the technology for producing expanded vermiculite by means of a directed change in the structure of minerals of the feedstock, which leads to a lowering of the temperature of expansion, is relevant and promising. For this, a low-temperature technology for producing expanded vermiculite was developed. The development was carried out on domestic raw materials, which allowed to refuse to import this demanded heat-insulating material. The obtained expanded vermiculite meets the basic modern requirements, such as: environmental cleanliness, high thermal insulation properties, good adhesion with a binder, sufficient strength, fire safety.

On the development of the theoretical foundations of obtaining dry building mixes for protective coatings of penetrating action on concrete and reinforced concrete, Elena Vladimirovna collaborates with domestic and foreign higher education institutions. E.V. Kondrashchenko as a representative of a scientific school has made a significant contribution to the development of the scientific potential of the University.
