Since the 1830s, Alexander Matrosov Street, along with a section of Michurin Street, has been called the road from Grafskaya Slavyanka to Tsarskoye Selo (now Dynamo and Pushkin, respectively). In the 1850s, the name Slavic road appears, in the 1890s - the Tsar Slavic road - in connection with the renaming of the Count Slavyanka into the Tsar Slav. Then, at the beginning of the 20th century, the road changes its status to the street.
Around 1918, Tsarskoslavyanskaya Street was renamed Sovetskoye Shosse - with the goal of expressing revolutionary spirit and contrasting the former name [1] . Later, in the 1930s, a fragment was isolated from the Sovetskoye Highway and included in Michurin Street, and the southern section, located behind Elizavetinskaya Street in the village of Pyazelevo, became nameless. After the war, he was given the name Alexander Matrosov Street - in honor of the automatic rifleman, Hero of the Soviet Union A.M. Matrosov (Sh. F. Mukhamedyanov).
On the section between Naberezhnaya and Gornaya Streets, Alexander Matrosov Street crosses the Popovka River along a bridge.
