Battenheim ( French Battenheim ) is a commune in the northeast of France in the Grand Est region [1] (former Alsace - Champagne - Ardennes - Lorraine ), department of the Upper Rhine , Mulhouse district , canton of Rixheim [2] . Until March 2015, the commune was administratively part of the abolished canton of Ilzac (Mulhouse district).

Economics
In 2010, out of 910 people of working age (from 15 to 64 years), 677 were economically active , 233 inactive (activity indicator 74.4%, in 1999 - 75.2%). Of 677 active able-bodied residents, 618 people worked (339 men and 279 women), 59 were unemployed (35 men and 24 women). Among 233 able-bodied inactive citizens, 72 were pupils or students , 107 were pensioners , and another 54 were inactive due to other reasons [8] [9] .
Throughout 2011, there were 592 taxable households in the commune , in which 1,487.5 people lived. The median income was 24,998 euros per taxpayer [10] .
