Tate, Lorenz

Tate was born on the West side of Chicago into the family of Peggy and Larry Tates ^[1] . He is the youngest of the three brothers (his two brothers, Larron and Lamard, are also actors). Theia family moved to California when he was nine years old. The three brothers convinced their parents to take them to theater classes at the city center of culture, but they did not take the lessons seriously until their classmate, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, began his ascent to fame after being taken in the Cosby Show sitcom. Realizing that they can succeed in the acting field, by making appropriate efforts, the brothers began to get small roles, and in 1985 Lorenz made his debut in one of the episodes of the television series “ Twilight Zone ”.

After participating in television series such as Jump Street 21 and Wonderful Years , Tate got a role in the mini-series Women of the Brewster Estate, and later got a supporting role as Willy Faffner, Steve Arkel's nemesis in the television series Family Matters ( 1989). He was also a regular actor on the CBS television series The Royal Family, starring Redd Fox and Della Reese ; The show ended prematurely due to the death of Redd Fox. In the video game 187 Ride or Die, Tate voiced the main character, Buck.

After many small roles, Tate was strewn with offers and at the end of 1992 the brothers-producers Albert and Allen Hughes offered him a role in their debut feature film “ Threat to the Society ”. Tate played the impulsive teenager of O-Dog, directing a significant part of his own energy to create such an image. After participating in the unpopular but later critically acclaimed television series South Central, Tate appeared in the comedy-drama film Inkwell (1994), and then worked with the Hughes brothers again on the set of Dead Presidents and played a poet who suffered from love in romantic drama “Jones Catch” (1997). Lorenz Tate also played the role of Kenny in one of the episodes of The Prince of Beverly Hills .

This was followed by roles in the film “The Postman ” (Ford Lincoln Mercury), a biopic about Frankie Laimon “Why Fools Fall in Love” (Tate played Laimon), as well as in the film “Crash of Love” (2000). Although in the early years of the new millennium, Tate did not have large movie roles, the actor played in the movie Bikers (2003) starring Lawrence Fishborn ; the film was coldly received by critics ^[2] . In addition, Tate’s name appeared in the films “ Loner ” (2003), “ Clash ” (2004) and “ Ray ” (2004), in which he played the legend of Quincy Jones music, as well as “Interception” (2006). In addition, Lorenz appeared in the R&B video of singer Ashanti for the song "Rain on Me", in which he appeared as the jealous wife of Ashanti. The music video touched on domestic violence. From 2007 to 2011, Tate played a regular role in the FX television series “ Save Me ” (fireman Bart “Black Swan” Johnston), and from 2013 to 2015, he played a secondary role in the show “ Resident of Lies ” (Malcolm Caan).

After a painful breakup with Annette Landon Ivory, Lorenz Tate did not forge a new relationship for a long time. However, a few years later, on November 30, 2006, he married Thomasine Parrot. Spouses have three sons.
