The original name is the 3rd street of Matrosky Sloboda . It has been known since 1840. Given by Sailor's settlement, which passed through. Representatives of the disabled crew of sailors who carried the economic and guard service lived in the settlement. There was also 1st street (now 1st Krasnoflotskaya street ) and 2nd street ( 2nd Krasnoflotskaya street ).
In the 1850s, the street became 3rd Matrosky .
Around 1918, the street was renamed 3rd Krasnoflotskaya , because at the same time the rank of Red Navy was introduced in the country instead of sailors.
On December 1, 1975, 3rd Krasnoflotskaya Street was renamed into Professor Molchanov Street in honor of the aerologist P.A. Molchanov , who in the late 1930s worked as the director of the Pavlovsk Aerological Observatory [1] .
