The single mixed relay (also single-mixed , until 2016 - super -mixed ) is a team competition in biathlon, which appeared in 2015 [1] . The team consists of two athletes - men and women - who pass the baton to each other over a total of eight firing lines [1] [2] .

History
The debut of the solo mixed relay took place in the Czech city of Nove Mesto at the World Cup on February 6, 2015. Prior to this, testing a new discipline, called at that time “supermix”, was held March 23, 2014 in Holmenkollen . At the first Single mixed relay in 2015, the Russian national team consisting of Alexey Volkov and Yana Romanova won. The second was the Norwegian team ( H. Labelund , M. Olsby ), the third - the national team of Ukraine ( A. Tishchenko , J. Jim ).
The first race at the World Championships was held on March 14, 2019 in Ostersund . It was won by the Norwegians Marte Olsby-Royselann and Johannes Boe , the second and third places were taken by the teams of Italy ( Dorothea Wierer and Lucas Hofer ) and Sweden ( Hannah Eberg and Sebastian Samuelsson ), respectively.
Rules
The team consists of two heterosexual athletes representing one country. Each relay participant passes a total of four firing lines and the corresponding circles of the ski run. The difference from the usual mixed relay is that the participants pass the relay several times, after each pair of firing lines. The biathlete starts the race, after 2 firing (lying and standing) she passes the baton to the biathlete. The athlete runs his circles plus 2 shooting and again passes the baton to his partner. The race ends with a biathlete running the last 1.5 km. Those participants who are lagging behind in the last relay race are removed from the distance. As in a normal relay race, an athlete has three spare cartridges for each shooting. If not all targets were closed, the athlete also runs the corresponding number of circles, which however are not 150, as usual, but 75 meters.

Start: J-1,5km-SL-1,5km-SS = M-1,5km-SL-1,5km-SS = Zh-1,5km-SL-1,5km-SS = M-1,5km SL-1.5km-SS-1.5km-Finish.
